Green upconversion lasing induced by the microspherical cavity effect of an erbium-ion-doped fluorozirconate glass particle was demonstrated. Periodic narrow peaks of the emission spectra corresponding to the whispering gallery modes were observed and the lasing threshold was determined from the excitation power dependence to be 4 mW. Large depletion of the red emission process was also observed at the threshold power of the green lasing.
