The purpose of the present study was to examine the reliability and validity of 41 items from various basketball skill test batteries proposed for boys and men, by employing statistical method to evaluate them. The re-test method was used for 34 members of college basketball varsity squad; the 21 items out of them showed high relliability: over .60, as follows: penny cup, successive three jumps, 30 seconds shots, zigzag dribble, vertical jump, speed dribble, dribble shoot, throwing a ball, speed pass, dribble turns, free throws, 40 feet dribble, speed pass, throwing shots from the side of court, straight dribble, 90 feet dribble, 6 feet wall pass, dodging ran, wall pass, foot worlk II, exact pass. To examine the validity of the test items, this study used a criterion of a composite of three elements was used: a) the subjective ratings made among the subjects themselves (students) and the director and corch; b) number of minutes played and points scored by the subjects in the official league games; c) the scores made in the criterion consisted of the ''Upper Group''; the bottom ten, ''Lower Group.'' The average performances of the ''Upper Group'' were better in all the but one (straight dribbles) test items than the ''Lower Group.'' Ten test items had more than .01 score in the T-scaled total (t-test), the number which indocates a meaningful any difference between the performances of the two Groups. Three test items had more than .05. From these results six test items were considere to have the validity high enough to clearly measure the basketball ability of the ''Upper Group'' and the ''Lower Group.'' They are ''penny cup,'' ''dribble turns'', ''throwing shots from the sides of court'', ''free throws'', ''wall pass'', and ''throwing ball''
