A simple rod-lozenge model was proposed as the first step for discussing the relationship between the orientation of the alkylchain part and that of the N,N'-dicyanoquinonediimine (DCNQI) part of Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of alkylDCNQI and alkylDCNQI-Cu, which had recently been fabricated and characterized by polarized IR spectroscopy. Taking into account the reported out-of-plane order parameters of individual molecular axes, this model could depict the structures of those LB films.
