This study explores the relationship between imagery and auditory stimulation. In guiding imagery, can we change the imagery experience by using auditory stimulation? Especially, I used two measures, vividness and manner of experience, in this study. Then I used the classical music specified in GIM (Guided Imagery and Music) and the sound effect as auditory stimulations. Twenty-eight subjects had a image with each own condition: (1) with GIM, under this condition subjects were asked to image a beach with listening to the classical mu sic, (2) with Sound Effect, under this condition subjects were asked to image a beach with listening to the sound effect of wave, (3) with Control, under this condition subjects were asked to imagine a beach without music. This study revealed two results. First, when subjects imaged with GIM, they had more vivid and deeper experience than without music. Second, when subjects imaged with Sound Effect, they imaged more vivid than without music. These suggest that auditory stimulation is useful to make it easy to have an image inducting into imagery session.
