This paper proposes and studies a novel design of a coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed WiMAX monopole antenna. Firstly, we investigate the dual-band monopole antenna for WiMAX operation. Then, by using two narrow strips etched on the dual band monopole antenna, which leads to the 3-3.2 GHz frequency band suppressed from dual-band antenna. That the triple-band of WIMAX allocates regions 2.5-2.7, 3.3-3.8, 5.2-5.8GHz is achieved. The design has an advantage of low cost, because the filter is not needed. The low cost, easy manufacture, good impedance match, good radiation patterns of the proposed antenna are also investigated in this paper.
