A __<10)>comparison with Inferno as stated in the previous paper 'TO See Man through Dante's Inferno' presents a viewpoint to see into the mystery of Purgatorio from. Man lives in three kinds of universes which overlap each other : physico-material, cordio-emotional and spirito-lyrical. The whole 'Divine Comedy' makes a thorough use of the first of them as a symbol of the second or the third. Inferno, expressed as a shut and dark hole in the core of the earth where the souls are unmoveable and nuchangeable in their behavior and mentality, symbolizes the cordio-emotional universe which is formed by a variety and depth of man's fettering emotions. The meaningless continuation or repetition of man's emotional experiences is why Inferno as a whole is covered with a nihilistic mood. Purgatorio, expressed as an open and light mounatain on the center of the ocean where the souls are progressively moveable and changeable in their position, spirituality and sociality, symbolizes the spirito-1yrical universe which is opened into a spatial, temporal and vital transcendence. Purgatorio is seemingly less stimulative and attractive than Inferno, partly and negatively because it is inferior in describing the souls individualistic, and mainly and positively because it gives some common element, psychological and behavioral, to all the souls in it. But this element, which seems to be a hue of gentleness, a somewhat reconciliatory mood to destiny or a heightened self-objectification, is derived from something transcendental without which the existential signification is impossible after all. Purgatorio is a regained meaning of human emotions and destinies.
