The flow around rectangular cylinders placed in linear shear was investigated experimentally. A wide range of shear was achieved by using an innovative wind tunnel of multi-fan type, where a column of fans are driven independently. The base pressure for d/h=0.2〜2.0 increases with increasing shear parameter, where d is the depth, and h is the height of rectangular cylinders. Particularly for d/h <0.6, the base pressure is sensitive to the shear parameter. A simple correction method was tentatively applied to remove the effect of turbulence on base pressure and Strouhal number.
