A significant change has been observed in job environment surrounding young people including university students. "Freeter and NEET" are some of newly coined terms which are now being acknowledged. On the other hand, the increasing number of youths - roughly 30% of university graduates - quit their job after a short period of three years. It has been fairly long since the university of our country were said to provide "moratorium" for the youth. However, the prolongment of the transitional period from the youth to the adult is not limited only to our country. A lot of young people including university students keep living for a long time under parent's protection as so - called "Parasites," but nowadays the society is beginning to accept it. While convention life course - such as "Marriage and bringing up children" or "Companies for men, home for women" - has already been old-fashioned, the country's decade long economic depression has dulled employment and accelerated restructuring. Although the economy is gradually changing for the better, a continuing severe employment situation has still increased the number of Freeters and NEETs who are not economically independent under the unstable work situation or remain unemployed. Although some experts point out that the delayed social independence of young people might be related to the phenomenon, is it the only reason? It would be possible to attribute the problem to insufficient family education or weakening work ethics and morality. This paper will examine the background of the tendency of young people who quit their job after a rather short period of employment. Although it would be necessary to interview with them on their personal histories and opinions first, this paper will start with the analysis of the present state of such people based on data published from various organizations.
