Highly excited states of cyanogen halides, ClCN, BrCN and ICN, were investigated using synchrotron radiation. The absolute cross sections for the photoabsorption of these molecules were determined in the wavelength range of 50-180nm (200000-55600cm^<-1>). The observed photoabsorption spectra displayed congested structures in the energy region under the second ionization potential. The spectral assignments of the peaks in the photoabsorption spectra of these molecules were performed.
