この論文は国立情報学研究所の学術雑誌公開支援事業により電子化されました。The present study examines young children's spatial perspective taking ability by using the children's reconstruction and drawing tasks. The subjects were 25 children from a nursery school, ranging from 5;11 to 6;11 years of age. The children observed a mug that was placed in a box with a small window. In the pre-test, they only looked at the mug from the front view and were asked to draw the mug in the box. In the posttest, similar tasks were given, but this time they were allowed to look from the side window. In addition, they were asked to put the mug on the box. They performed two conditions: the identity condition and the placement condition. In the identity condition, the mug was seen as the cup with no handle from the front view. In the placement condition, the mug was seen that it was in the small box from the front view. The results show that the 5-and 6-year-olds are able to reconstruct the object as they were in both conditions. However, their drawings showed visual realism in the identity condition, while they showed visual and intellectual realism in the placement condition.
