• Environmental questions can be seen as a problem of entropy, and it is from this approach that we addressed the issues. Should society persist in engaging in productive activities in its traditionally haphazard, uninhibited manner, entrophy would swell and the earth would sooner or later find itself confined in a straitjacket of diverse gaseous, liquid and solid waste products. To avert such a catastrophe to the utmost, it will be necessary to impose constraints on the use and development of energy and modify society's activities in such ways that waste products will be broken down and disposed of through the cyclic movements of the natural environment. But to translate them into action is probably easier said than done.
