This paper is composed of five sections: first section dealing with Modernization, Population Aging, Elderly Society, and Longevity; second section Longevity "Revolution" in Japan; third section Relationship between Longevity and Population Aging; fourth section Expectation of life in the World - Global, Regional and National - and Differentials among Female and Male; last section discussing so-called Elderly Society. Various aspects of aging of population, and also average expectation of life in Japan have been examined, in order to demonstrate their unique characteristics. For example, average longevity of Japanese has shown fantastic prolongation, never experienced by advanced countries ever before, and also her population aging is going to accelerate in the very short time of period. In particular, it is emphasized that newly emerging trend of fertility decline, and improvement of mortality among elderly population are expected to strengthen aging tempo. Not only tremendous increase of old population, but also remarkable increase of adult poeple will bring about "greying" population in near future. Japan could be considered a good example for predicting future picture of the earth.
