Natural gas is one of the clean energies and the demand is growing significantly in the world. The transportation methods of natural gas can be typically categorized as LNG tankers and pipelines. Because both transportation methods need a huge investment for the preparation of transportation chain, only large gas reservoirs could be developed commercially until now. In this study FPSO system, which has been generally applied to a marginal or deepwater oil field, was chosen as a new application for development of stranded gas fields. In order to liquefy natural gas on FPSO, three types liquefaction methods, such as LNG, GTL and DME, are selected and compared. The proposed natural gas liquefaction FPSO system has been evaluated in viewpoints of technical reliability and risk assessment, and it is concluded that this FPSO system is feasible commercially and technically.
