1. Gen-Oji (源をぢ) and Wasure-e-nu Hitobito (忘れえれ人々) are influenced by Wordsworth. 2. Doppo described the hero of Gen-Oji and a beggar who was called Kishu (紀州) as the persons neglected by society. Then he intended to symbolize the essence of human beings by them. 3. Doppo says that because they lost love for human beings, they were kept away from society. At this point, his view of human beings is different from Wordsworth's. 4. In Wasure-e-nu Hitobito, also, the existence of human beings is described in contrast with eternal nature. This existence of human beings is rapped with mere sentiment. Therefore, we can say, Doppo could not reach the stage of Wordsworth's "still, sad music of humanity."
