This paper investigates that the relationshop between overseas trade and middling sort in eighteenth century Britain. In recent research, social and economic roles of middling sort have been argued, but it is not regarded as relating to overseas trade. According to studies in the formation of middling sort, there is some evidence to connect middling sort and overseas trade. In this paper, we consider the relationshop between middling sort and overseas trade, by surveying previous research.
