This paper focuses on the originality of Balinese music with reference to article, that plagiarism of music in Balinese news paper. The Island of Bali, which is located in Indonesia, is a platform for several forms of performing arts that are carried out as a religious courtesy and for daily recreational purposes. In addition, newer forms of music and dances, which are based on the traditional methods of performing arts, are also presented. The article entitled "It is necessary to establish a standard of plagiarism" describes a final examination conducted in the Institute of Art in Bali, Indonesia. According to the article, a student in the department of traditional music plagiarized from the work of Kitaro, a Japanese musician. Both works are very similar, however the work of the student was not recognized as plagiarism because Balinese creation music is composed by quoting and arranging the works of other musicians. Moreover, there is no established standard of plagiarism in Bali. This article has implications for Balinese composers. However, if Balinese musicians begin composing with quoting and arranging from works originally created by others, I suppose that the standard of plagiarism and that of originality of work is not clear.
