The natural conditions of tobacco planting district in Kngoshima-ken fit for vegetable cultivation, too. And the cultivation is often promoted in the past, but it can't be realized. The causes of this fact can be cited as follows : (1) In this district, cash incomes of farmers are supported by selling tobacco-leaf. (2) As the stability of tobacco-leaf market is kept intensely, under the Tobacco-monopoly-system, so senses of farmers for commercial agriculture are left out of training. (3) Tobacco planting farmers lacked their abilities for the vegetable cultivation which should be carried out in accordance with the previous plan. After the War II, former conditions about the vegetable cultivation changed largely, and possibility of the cultivation enlarged considerably. That is, after the War, (1) as stabilities of farmers' economics decreased, so they must discover some cash gaining methods in addition to tobacco plantings. (2) as their informations are well added, so their abilities for the cultivation certainly increased.
