This paper is concerned with the steady-state forced and free vibrations of a clamped beam to which a branched elastic arm carrying a concentrated mass is attached; this system is schematic representation of a supporting structure of machine. A system of two differential equations of motion is solved by using the Laplace transform method. The influences of transverse stiffness and location of the branched elastic arm on the frequency spectrum are investigated with the aid of the numerical results. Comparison between the experimental and theoretical results for free vibrations shows excellent agreement.
