It is generally accepted that the catalytic activity of imidazole(Im)-containing copolymer prepared as a model of hydroiytic enzyme is due to the cooperation between Im function and other functional group. Since the Im function pendent along the copolymer chain is divided in near neutral solution to neutral portion (A_1) and cationic one(A_2) and forms a complicated copolymer chain with other monomer unit(B), it is necessary to consider the heterogeneous catalytic reaction on the catalytic hydrolysis of labile ester and azolide. In this paper the rate constant of the heterogeneous catalytic reaction(k_) was related to that calculated toward the total Im concentration(k_) through the sum of mole fractions of active linkages{(λ_c)_p} applicable to a specific catalytic reaction mechanism. To obtain the (λ_c)_p value, it was needed to introduce a synthetic equation calculatable independently each mole fraction of n-linkage unit connected in series along the copolymer chain. On the catalytic reaction caused by the hydrophobic interaction between neutral substrate and Im function, the ratio((k_)/(k_)) was only two to six, however, on the catalytic reacrion caused by the electrostatic interaction, the revalued k_ became 250-3000 timcs larger than the highest value of k_ observed.
