Structure of the heliospheric current sheet is inferred through a phenomenological model, the 'wave model', proposed by Kaburaki and Yoshii. In contrast with another such model, Schetten's 'source surface model', the information about magnetic distribution on the solar surface is propagated by an MHD spherical wave which is assumed to travel isotropically with a constant velocity of the order of the solar wind velocity. The main results are, 1) the combination of a solar-centered dipole moment and an equatorial quadrupole moment can explain the transition between the two- and four-sectored patterns of IMF (interplanetary magnetic field) near the ecliptic plane, in terms of a slight change in the inclination of the dipole axis from the rotational axis, 2) the predicted change in the maximum latitude of the warped current sheet with heliocentric distance is consistent with observations. Some other advantages of the wave model are also discussed.HeliomagnetosphereSector structureCurrent sheet
