The composite materials consisting of three components, graphite, copper and phenol resin (binder) were prepared and the change in the crystallite size of copper with heat treatment up to 1200℃ was studied by XRD measurement and SEM observation. Also the correlation between the dispersion state of these components and some properties of the composites such as resistivity, friction and brush wear was investigated. As a result it was found that the behavior of copper near the melting point of the metal (1083℃) predominantly influences these mechanical properties as well as the electrical property.
