The dietary life-style trends of female students at our junior college has been under investigation for the last ten years, from around 1990/91 to 1995, and from 2000 to 2005. The results from the first period (1990/91 to 1995) and the second period (2000 to 2005) were compared as follows; 1. The rate of students skipping breakfast increased twofold between the first period and the second period. 2. The rate of salad consumption for breakfast and lunch have increased, perhaps meaning that the availability of vegetables has increased. However, it is necessary to investigate whether the appropriate amounts of vegetables are being taken. 3. The insufficient intake of milk, fish and seaweed as calcium-source foods, and fruits as vitamins-source food has been noted. 4. The rate of between-meal and midnight eating decreased, and the students who take regular exercise, have been on diets and are interested in their diets have been seen to increase in number. From the results, we can gather an increase of partial eating habits in young female students and an increase of trend that they want to reduce their weight. In a notable current social problem is the number of "life-style diseases", and the number of patients is increasing year by year, we intend to give young people good food education so that they may pick up proper dietary habits from their youth, using the results above.
