Among the five largest ports, the Osaka Port has the largest number of warehouse established in the comparatively recent years. While quite similar to their counterparts in the Nagoya Port, operators in the Osaka Port are quite different in character from their counterparts in the Yokohama and Kobe ports. Osaka's major items stored are electric machinery, iron and steel, paper and pulp. Some are products boasting of large amount of shipment in the area. In terms of storage by area, the stored items originate overseas and nationwide and shippers are mainly factories, while they are destined nationwide, and for Kansai and Western Japan. They are distributed mainly to factories, retailers and wholesalers. In view of the allocation pattern, the warehouses are located at one point, strategic points or all over the area.
