The aim of this study is to analyze the time series of ECG, respiration and institutions during the mental work. The task was to add two numbers of two figures decimal numbers which were shown on the computer display successively. The mental task was performed during 90 minutes. Eight male students participated in this study. During the mental task, the ECG, respiratory waveforms and nictitation were continuously stored on an FM tape recorder. Heart-rate variability such as heart-rate, coefficient of variation, etc. can be obtained by the personal computer. Different types of mental task influence heart-rate variability parameters. The power spectral density function of a series of R-R intervals was loaded with a program using the autoregressive model. These results suggest that the coefficient of variation of R-R intervals decreases in the mental work. Mental workload is associated with the component of the dominant peaks.
