The aim of this paper is to indicate fact-findings on the general tendency of relation between the size of elementary, secondary & high school and the number of education personnel, based on data of Yamaguchi Prefecture in 1992, 1997 and 2002. The main results are as follows. (1) The size (number of schoolchildren) of elementary school is extremely diverse, that is, the minimum is 1 schoolchild and the maximum is 1030 schoolchildren, and the average is 238 with standard deviation 242. (2) We can find 6 educational personnel for 1 schoolchild in the smallest elementary school, on the other hand, 54 educational personnel for 1030 schoolchildren in the largest. (3) When we take the school size at the horizontal axis and the number of educational personnel per schoolchildren at the vertical axis, we can show "L-shaped curve with down-ward convex", that is, as the size of elementary school becomes larger, the number of educational personnel per schoolchildren decreases rapidly for the smaller size school with fewer children than 10, and decreases gradually for the larger size. (4) In secondary and high school, we can find the same tendencies as elementary school, although the degree is weaker in secondary and high school than elementary school.
