1. The soil resistances of two kinds of rotary curved knife tine (Nata-Tume) were measured by a home-made measuring apparatus. 2. The revolutions of tine shaft were about 80~370 rpm, the pitches were 4~10cm., the depths were 4~15cm., and the water contents of soil were about 19.2~21.5%. 3. The horizontal components of the soil resistances are larger than the vertical components. 4. The maximum soil resistances occur when the horizontal components are maximum. 5. The maximum soil resistances increase with the depths of tilling. 6. The maximum soil resistances decrease as the revolutions of tine shaft increase. 7. The maximum soil resistances act upon the base of the curved part at smaller depths but they act upon the curved part at larger depths. 8. The directional angles of the maximum soil resistances increase with the depths of tilling. 9. The specific resistances of the maximum soil resistances are minimum at the depth 10~12cm. and they become smaller as the pitches increase.
