1. Six 10-in. plows were tested on some soil conditions by a home-made tillage meter. 2. Components R_L, R_V and R_S of plow resistance increase with depth, and the magnitude of R_L is maximum. The draft R_L increases with depth by 10~20kg/cm. and its deviation is about 33~20%, its peak load deviation is -70~+80% of the average value, and its varying frequency is about 1~2 cps. 3. R_S/R_L≌0.2~0.31, R_V/R_L≌0.18~0.26. 4. The sod plow having the least pulverizing action gives the least draft. Between stubble plows, the more the curvature and the area of the moldboard are, the more draft is required resulting in more pulverization. The general-purpose plow has the characteristics between the sod and stubble plows. R_S does not vary much from the plow shape. 5. The unit drafts of all plows have the minimum values at 7~15cm. depth. 6. α has the maximum value of 15°~20°at 10~15cm. depth, and β has the minimum value of 15°~20°at the same depth. 7. The center of resistance disperses fairly broad on the moldboard. 8. The moment which acts so as to rotate the plow share downward in the longitudinal vertical plane is maximum. 9. The rolling coulter has the effect of decreasing the draft by about 12%, and decreasing the angle α.
