Various molybdenum oxide particles such as MoO_3, Mo_4O_<11>, Mo_4O_<11> (60M) were produced from vapor phase by controlling the total pressure of Ar-O_2 mixed gas or oxygen partial pressure. The correlation between infrared (IR) spectra and their structure were discussed taking into account the [MoO_6] octahedron. The particle size effect on the symmetry of the [MoO_6] octahedron of MoO_3 was also discussed on the basis of the harmonic oscillator model.
