The author revised the subfamily Conorbiinae and the "genus" Etrema (subfamily Mangeliinae) among the numerous Japanese Turridae. From a lingular study Bathytoma belongs to the subfamily Conorbiinae near Genota. Riuguhdrillia belongs to the same subfamily by resemblance of its Bathytoma-like features. The "Etrema" species reported from Japan and adjacent seas are separated into three genera. The new genus Pseudoetrema has neither apertural denticles, nor any varix. The other new genus, Etremopa, bears a varix on its outer lip, and has denticles within the outer lip, but lacks any denticles or plications on its columella. True Etrema has a strong varix and apertural denticles both on the columella and within the outer lip.
