By matching transmitter parameters to the time-varying channel conditions, adaptive modulation has the potential to increase the transmission rate considerably. As perfect feedback knowledge is rarely available, transmitter designs based on partial channel state information are of paramount importance. In this paper, limited feedback link is considered for OFDM transmission over MIMO frequency-selective channels. A separate design adaptive scheme for the MIMO-OFDM with beamforming on each subcarrier is proposed in the paper. We aim to maximize the transmission rate, while reducing the feedback requirement under the constrained of the BER. Numerical results confirm that the throughput can be improved and the feedback requirement can be reduced considerably.
