Hypopharyngeal glands of the bee which had spent in a parent colony since emergence reached a peak of development on the eighth day of adult life. When a young bee had lived with a senior bee like a six-day-old bee since emergence, her hypopharyngeal glands were developed much greater than those of a singly isolated bee and of the bees which had lived as a member of a group of newly-emerged bees alone. Moreover, the glandular acinus was highly developed in bees which had lived singly and in bees which had lived as the same age group, after spending in a parent colony for the first 4 days of adult life. From these results, it was concluded that during their adult life for 4 days since emergence, young bees are given an information which facilitated to have a large amount of pollen by senior bees rather than bees of the same age. And the ages of bees which fit to communicate and accept this information are discussed. The existence of larvae markedly accelerated development of hypopharyngeal glands in young workers. On the contray, growth of the glands in antenna-ctomized bees was considerably suppressed in comparison with that of normal bees.
