A pictogram is a type of graophic symbol; it is a symbol which makes peoples understand its meaning through use of a form expressing its mieaning. Graphic symbols are called "su-kigo" in Japan. The International Standardization Organization committee in Japan has translated this to "Zu-kigo" (picture symbol) and is using it as official terminology. That is why the pictogram is a type of picture symbol. The feature of the pictogram is its "trans-misson effect can be understood immediately and internationally without prior sutyd. "The Japanese translation of pictgram is "e-moji"(picture word) or "e-kotoba" (picture language). This pictogram plan was designed for Fukushima National College of Technology's large campus and various buildings. Welcomes visitors other than students. We propose the use of original many pictograms and made a guidebook (as example of using pictogram) for the tool that makes use this public establishment easily.
