Students' knowledge on aging and attitudes toward the elderly were measured at the beginning and end of a one-year course of lecture on social services for the elderly stressing the normal aging. The subjects were 68 undergraduate students participating the course, ranged in age from 19 to 22. The knowledge on aging was measured with Palmore's Facts on Aging Quiz (FAQ); two scores of attitudes toward the elderly were constructed from 8 pairs of adjectives based on the results of confirmatory factor analysis. The changes in total score of FAQ and percent error-negative were significant, but not significant in percent error-positive and two scores of attitudes. The change in total score of FAQ indicated some increase of knowledge on aging, and that in percent errornegative showed some decrease of negative misconceptions about aging. From these results, the one-year course of lecture seemed to be successful in improving students' knowledge on aging and correcting their negative misconceptions, but not successful in fostering positive attitudes toward the elderly even though the normal aging was extraordinarily stressed in the course.
