Now in Japan DPT vaccine has been generally employed and at first glance one might think that immunization against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis is so standardized that it scarcely justifies any extensive comment. Nevertheless, there are a number of recurring questions about immunization against each of these diseases on the use of DPT vaccine. -At what age should this be started, how many injections should be given, what type of product should be used and what is the best schedule for the dosage and the intervals between injections with this preparation? This report refers to some these practical problems on the use of DPT vaccine commercially available. Immunization schedules should be carried out as currently recommended, but for infants in high risk or whose series of DPT immunizations has been interrupted, appropriate alterations of the dosage or of the intervals between injections of a given vaccine may be indicated. To simultaneous DPT inoculation with other vaccines and contraindication to DPT vaccination are also referred.
