E・Jaques-Dalcroze (1865-1950) was the inventor of Eurhythmics Education, which unites the three musical fields of rhythmical movement, solfege and improvisation into one educational program. In this paper, I will touch upon the subject of "non-harmonic tones" in piano improvisation. For Eurhythmic Education instruction it is necessary to have achieved a proficient level in piano improvisation. When we listen to music, the first impression that we are left with is probably the music's melody. Consequently, I think when we try and recall a certain song the first thing that comes to mind is the song's melody. In music there is something that supports the melody and that is called harmony. However, if we listen carefully to music we can often hear sounds, not only harmonic in nature, but that appear to have no relation to the accmpaniment. These sounds are called non-harmonic tones. In this paper I will discuss passing notes, auxiliary notes and appogiature, the most often used non-harmonic tones.
