In order to explore the changes of electrical activity patterns during the development of neuronal networks, electrical activity of developing cultured neurons from Lymnaea central ring ganglion was observed using MEDs (Multi Electrode Arrays). The number of spikes observed from every electrode increased according to the days of culture. The electrical activity of neurons three days in vitro, which had formed synaptic connections with other neurons, showed periodic oscillation and they showed strong cross correlation between them. The electrical activity of neurons without synaptic connections didn't show any periodicity. These results suggest that the rhythm of the networks observed in cultured Lymnae ring ganglion may be generated by neuronal networks.
