CAD is widely used in industrial field, but the computers are not utilized so much in designing styles and colors of these industrial products. In automobiles and architecture, however, computers are utilized for the process of designing styles and colors, and this aspect is reported in the present paper. Apparel industry is dealt with in this paper, since it has much to do with the curriculum of our college. In such manufacturing processes as pattern making, grading and marking, computers are made use of, but not in designing the apparel at least at present. In the process of designing the products, originality of the designer plays an important role. A successful utilization of the computer, therefore, depends on the ability of the designer to use the computer as a tool, who generally proves himself to be poor in this field. In this respect, it is quite different from the usual CAD, where an operator makes use of the computer. Consequently, we come to the conclusion that we need to offer a course training designers to utilize compouters.
