A set of genealogical records for the Tokuyama vassals in the latter half of the Edo Period was put into a database for an analysis of their life course from the point of view of historical demography. The life courses of more than 1000 vassals were traced and analyzed. The ages at succession, marriage, retirement and death were the focuses of this analysis and are shown in the tables. The age distribution for each event of the life course was rather wide in the earlier period and became slightly more concentrated in the later period. Ages at succession, marriage and retirement became younger in the later period following the upward shift of the mortality level. Among other findings, it is noteworthy that retirement became more common in the later period. Differentiation by status was also examined in the analysis.
