The main goals of this paper are to examine the concept of 'curriculum', with an intent to get to a meaningful idea (meta-concept). Curriculum is one of the most important elements in education, especially in planning. Lessons obviously depend on curriculum. Good planning and refined theory, however, do not always result in successful 'practice'. Where does this difficulty between theory and practice come from? In this paper, I discuss the history of educational curriculum programs, and offer a hypothesis that says that theories of curriculum, so far, have analyzed issues only thematically. Some issues are not suitable for 'thematic' processing, while others are. I discusss the Greek 3 diagram of 'epistheme', 'phronesis', and 'poiesis', as a more effective design for educational curricula than 'theory-practice'.
