This paper tries to shed light on the differences between Japanese and American university students through their daily language. Many studies show that young generation (in this paper, it indicates university students) tends to create new words (so called 'college slang') and use them mainly to strengthen peer solidarity. Styles of word formation and their functions vary in some ways between Japanese and American university students. Moreover, these differences distinctly connected with aspects of their national character.
