This report aims to summarize the actual condition about social participation and "ikigai" of the middle-age and elderly residents in yamaguchi prefecture from social reserch. Some results are below: social participation: 1) the ratio of participants of social activity is 61.9%. 2) Regarding to age, the ratio of them in former elderly are higher than in latter one. 3) In the topic of the obstruction of participation, non-participation is caused by the time factor in pre-elderly, but it is caused by the physical one in elderly, "ikigai" : 1) The ratio of the holders of "ikigai" is 66.7%. 2) Regaideing to age, the ratio of them in former eldergy are higher than in latter one. 3) The higher elderly holds "ikigai" in the interchange of the different generation. From these results it can be important to regard the variety of needs from the disparity in age in supporting for social participation and "ikigai".
