Experiments were carried out to investigate on the magnetic and physical properties of Ba-Zn-Mg W-type hexagonal ferrites without atmosphere control. Composition were chosen according to the formula BaZn_<2-(1-X)>MG_XFe_<16>O_<27>, where X was varied 0〜0.5 and 1.0. The effect of BaO addition after semisintering treatment on magnetic properties of Ba-Zn-Mg compounds was examinend. It was found that BaO addition for Ba-Zn-Mg compounds was very useful in stabilizing the W-type hexagonal. The optimum condition of making magnets and some properties of a typical specimens are as follows composition BaZn_<1.7>MG_<0.3>Fe_<16>O_<27> in addition with 4wt% BaO; semisintering condition 1250℃ for 1.0 h in air; sintering condition 1200℃ for 0.5h in air; magnetic and physical properties are J_m=0.378 T, J_r=0.345 T, H_<cJ>=93.98 kA/m, H_<cB>=91.51 kA/m, (BH)_<max>=19.22 kJ/m^3, T_c=354℃, H_A=1003.5 kA/m, K_A=1.90×10^5 J/m^3, c=32.78×10^<-10>m, a=5.890×10^<-10>m, c/a=5.565.
