It is very important to analyze pole location of linear control systems for open and closed loop properties. In a finite dimensional case, the number of poles is finite and they are calculated as matrix eigenvalue problems. Time-delay systems belong to infinite dimensional systems and they have infinite number of poles in general. Stability and some other properties of time-delay systems are also evaluated by their pole location. A neutral system is one of time-delay systems and has poles located in chains which are generated by a characteristic equation described by an exponential type entire function. In general, it is difficult to solve the exponential type entire function. In this paper, we present an algorithm for deriving the characteristic function based on the Faddev algorithm and solving the characteristic function.
