• The wedge type cantilever beams are often seen in the teeth of racks, screw threads dealt with two-dimensionally, mechanical structures, etc. The wedge type cantilever beam with uniform thickness under concentrated load at the free end vertex has been analyzed theoretically and photoelasticaly by M. M. Frocht. In this paper, the wedge type cantilever beams with concentrated load at the free end having width are dealt with generally, and the stress distribution at the boundary of the beams is obtained theoretically and compared with photoelastic results. As a result, the magnitude and position of the maximum stress are clarified.
