The method of the oscillating conveyor which feeds the material by means of putting it on the sinusoidally oscillating plate, is commonly applied in manufacturing fields, because the equipment is very simple and, makes the various operations such as selection, arrangement, etc. of machine parts, for example, possible. In the conveyance process under condition that the amplitude of the vibrating plate is constant, the material slides on the surface of the plate when the frequency of vibration in small. On the other hand, if the frequency exceeds a certain value, then the material jumps up from the surface of the plate. In this paper, these behaviours of conveying materials during sliding and jump motion under various operating conditions, have been studied theoretically and experimentally. As these results, the good coincidence of the conveying speeds between theoretical analysis and experimental works were confirmed. Moreover, the paths of motion of the conveying material recorded experimentally were compared with that calculated analytically and their differences were discussed.
