Various analytical conditions were examined for the determination of aluminium in iron, steel, and nickel alloys by high-frequency plasma torch excitation method. The optimum conditions were found to be magnetron anode current of 140 mA, carrier gas argon flow of 4.5 l/min, and use of Al-I 3961.53A as the analytical line. The calibration curve by this method showed good linearity and it was found that this method allowed a precise and rapid determination of aluminium, which is difficult to be determined by flame photometry because of forming a stable oxide in the flame. The results obtained agreed well with those of chemical analysis.
