A theory of the method of measuring Hall coefficient at microwave frequencies by using the bimodal or dual-mode cavity was developed. The principal feature of the theory is that it is a straight application of the method developed by Slater in treating microwave resonant cavities. The treatment is similar to that performed by Portis and Teaney, but it is an essential difference that the cavity without initial unbalances was treated. The theory is. obviously, applicable to the cavity used by Nishina and Spry in their experimental works, and detaild calculations show that the equation used by them for obtaining the mobility from their experimental data is valid under very restricted criterion. The equations which can be applied for much more general experimental arrangements are derived in this report. The theory can also be applicable to calculate the initial resistive unbalance.
