A conclusion was made in the previous paper on the functional groups of flavonoids to react with germanium that in acid solution, flavonoids react with germanium by means of ortho carbonyl-hydroxy group, but in neutral solution, they react with germanium by means of ortho dihydric phenyl group. In order to verify this conclusion, the reaction between germanium and cyanidin chloride was investigated, which has only one ortho dihydric phenyl group as functional group. And for the purpose of understanding whether the conclusion could be generally applied to organic reagents other than flavonoids, the reaction between germanium and several organic reagents, such as tiron, alizarin S, hematoxylin and others, were studied. As the results, it was clearly observed that the conclusion mentioned previously had been correct concerning flavonoids and other organic reagents. In these experiments, hematoxylin possessing two ortho dihydric phenyl groups as the functional group, did not react with germanium in acid solution ; on the contrary, hematein replacing only one hydroxy radical of an ortho dihydric phenyl group of hematoxylin with carbonyl radical, reacted with germanium decidedly in acid solution. These facts clearly showed the difference in character between ortho carbonyl-hydroxy group and ortho dihydric phenyl group.
