In zinc electrolysis, lead ions dissolved in zinc electrolyte are discharged to a cathode preferentially to zinc ions with a limiting current density corresponding to lead ion concentration and electrolysis conditions as long as lead ions are present in electrolyte. The aim of present work is to determine the lead content in zinc which comes into the cathode only from the electrolytic deposition of this ionic state lead. The values of the limiting current density of lead ions are approximately estimated by applying diffusion theories, and from these values the ratio of lead in deposit zinc may be evaluated using the Faraday's law. The calculated and observed results are compared and discussed. As expected, it is shown that the lead content of cathode zinc due to this electrochemical inclusion is never so small as is usually considered to be.
