Experimental data of photoelectric effect for Cu were compared with the intervals between the energy levels, E_1, E_2, E_3 and E_4, which were determined provisionally as those of valence electrons in the last paper; and it was found that the threshold energies for (111) and (100) of Cu crystal coincide with E_2-E_3 and E_2-E_4, respectively, and that, the energies corresponding to the selective maxima coincide with E_1-E_3 and E_1-E_4, respectively, within experimental error. The similar comparison with the absorption of light by Cu thin film, was made, finding that, the threshold wave lengths for (111) and (100) appear as absorption maxima, not absorption edges. Thus the real existence of the expected levels was confirmed. Further, on the basis of the above findings, the mechanism of the photoelectric effect at the thresholds and the selective maxima were discussed.
